Medical termination of pregnancy (also known as abortion) is available up to 9 weeks gestation. Surgical termination referrals (up to 14 weeks gestation) can also be arranged through our clinic to a trusted nearby provider.

Meet Dr Tegan Buckingham
Special interest: sexual health including screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, erectile dysfunction, trans medicine including gender affirming hormonal therapy and contraception including being certificate to insert intra-uterine devices (IUDs). Other special interests include skin cancer medicine (skin checks, excisions) and aesthetic medicine procedures.
Dr Tegan is passionate about Women’s health and Sexual Health. She has advanced certification including being an authorised s100 prescribed for HIV and hepatitis B medications. She also prescribes medical therapy for hepatitis C, HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and medical terminations of pregnancy (MTOPS).
What Is a Medical Termination of Pregnancy?
A medical termination involves prescribed medication that allows the pregnancy to pass naturally at home, with medical support and structured follow-up from our clinic.
This option is suitable for pregnancies confirmed within the uterus and under 9 weeks gestation.
What Does the Process Involve?
- First Appointment
- Review of last menstrual period
- Referral for ultrasound (to confirm gestation and location)
- Self-collected STI screening
- Discussion of options and support
(Ultrasound is typically performed from 5.5–6 weeks gestation.)
- Second Appointment
- Review of ultrasound results
- Informed consent discussion
- Prescription of termination medication
- Blood test (pregnancy marker baseline)
- Contraception discussion (if appropriate)
- Third Appointment (2 Weeks Later)
- Repeat pregnancy marker blood test (prior to appointment)
- Review of symptoms and wellbeing
- Confirmation that termination was successful
All follow-up directly related to the termination is bulk billed.
- SCHEDULE OF FEES
- Initial consultation: $170 (Medicare rebate $84.90)
- Second consultation (includes prescription): $300 (Medicare rebate $89.35)
- Third follow-up appointment: Bulk billed
Ultrasound is performed externally at an imaging provider.

If further gestation is identified, we can provide referral for surgical termination up to 14 weeks.
